When Brighton told me that she and Fred like to dance at the grocery store while waiting at the deli counter, I knew we had our engagment shoot. I love when photo session locations have special significance to the couple. This was definitely one of the most interesting and creative engagement sessions I’ve ever shot, although we had to navigate what seemed like the entire population of Washington, DC replenishing their refrigerators after the blizzard.
What I love about this session is that it is real. Sure, I picked a few spots for them to stand, but the interactions are all them. Brighton and Fred are such a fun, free-spirited couple. The kind of couple that dances at the grocery store while waiting at the deli counter.
Bonus: Brighton and Fred got to shop for dinner during the shoot. That’s quality multitasking.

Event: Children’s Hospital’s Dancing After Dark. DC’s young philanthropists gathered for an evening of cocktails, dessert, and dancing at Sequoia Restaurant. Now that the holidays have passed, I can share Jack and Cooper’s special session, a holiday gift for their dad. This session was even more special to me because I photographed their parents’ Baltimore wedding in 2008. I love when my wedding couples come back to me for family portraits!
