This morning at 10:43 am, Carolyn and I welcomed our first child into the world. The whole process happened so quickly and Carolyn was amazing. She hardly broke a sweat, and only cursed my name a few times. I was so proud.

Though six days before our official due date, today is the day Carolyn picked in our baby pool. I think this thing was rigged. She had some inside information or something.

The specs:
Name: Ryan Charles Bobb
Gender: Male (duh). We didn't find out ahead of time, but by the end of the pregnancy we were both expecting a girl to pop out.
Weight: 6 lbs, 6 oz., a little peanut.
Length: 19.5 inches.
Hair: Lots.

The aforementioned lots of hair. Also the easiest prediction about this child. Vegas took this one off the board months ago.


Most of Ryan's first day was spent napping or quietly looking around. Very little crying, which we are hoping is a sign of things to come. Of course now that I've just jinxed us, we probably won't sleep for 5 years.

My favorite photo of the year isn't even one that I shot. It would have to be this profile shot by the fine folks at Capital Women's Care, the first official portrait of Baby Bobb.



So Carolyn is about 5 months pregnant with our first child, and for those who are wondering:

1) We are not going to find out the gender of the baby. It's going to be a big surprise (but feel free to enter a guess in our baby pool).

2) The "Baby Bobb" moniker is temporary, although it has a nice ring to it. We will pick a name eventually. Feel free to leave suggestions in the comments.

3) Yes, this will be the most photographed baby of all time.

I've been bugging her for awhile now to let me take some photos. She finally gave in the other night and we had an impromptu photoshoot. In Carolyn's case, "impromptu" means an hour fixing hair and makeup and several wardrobe changes! (Just kidding, honey)

Seriously though, isn't she beautiful? I must have done something right in a past life.

So we were having fun, but not showing off the baby bump much. I took one that would satisfy all the masses clamoring for some pregnant Carolyn photos.


Then we decided to see if Jingles and Cooley would cooperate for a picture with Mommy. Fat chance.
