Happy Father's Day
I just wanted to wish a Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. It also happens to be my first Father's Day as a dad. Since I'm usually the one taking the pictures, I figured today would be a good day to have my picture taken. Here's a great shot of me and Ryan that Carolyn took today. I love it!

And here's one I took of my grandfather holding Ryan. I love the way he's looking at his great-grandson.

Fun With Spoons
Ryan had his first experience with semi-solid food the other day. We had a lot of fun and I think he really enjoyed the 3% of the rice cereal that actually made it into his mouth.
Ryan couldn't decide whether to eat or smile for the camera. So he did both at the same time.

Yes, it IS hard to keep food in your mouth when you smile all the time...

The soon-to-be-patented rice/milk goatee...

"More, please..."

"Keep it coming..."

"Still hungry..."

Here I think he's reflecting back on what life was like before spoons...

Vote for Ryan
A local radio station is running a Baby Idol contest to find the cutest baby in the DC area, so of course we had to enter Ryan. It is our completely unbiased opinion that he should win hands down, but we need your help. The 50 babies with the most votes by this Friday advance to the next round. If you think Ryan is deserving of the title, please vote for him this week. You will need to create an account to vote, but that's a small price to pay for the good karma that will come your way.
Click here for Ryan's group. We entered the picture below and he’s listed as "Ryan - Takoma Park".

Ryanpalooza
I've been woefully lacking in blog posts, and Ryan pictures in particular. Rather than bore you with lame excuses, let's get right to the recent pics:
From April 4, looking a little "gangsta"...

4/16, showing his big smile...

Starting to hold his head up...

From 4/23, these are some of my favorite shots of Ryan. If you can't tell, he smiles a lot.

From 4/24, starting to look like a little person instead of a baby...

These were taken yesterday. Here he's sporting his Love Life onesie from our studio.

Also taken yesterday at my mom's house...

He can totally hold his head up now (at least for a few minutes before face planting).

Phew, all caught up.

Reunion
Last night we went to a reunion of our baby class. It was fun seeing everyone and, of course, all the little babies. Ryan happens to be the youngest from our class, so we got a taste of what the next few weeks hold.
Here are a few from earlier yesterday. He gets cuter every day, and now he is starting to smile.

At the reunion, the baby lineup... Ryan is second from the left.

The runt of the litter always gets pushed around (hence the pillow to keep him upright!)

The whole group...

The Little Man
Well so much for more frequent blogging... it's amazing how much time a little person can occupy. He's changing so much every day and it's hard to keep up sometimes. We took him to the doctor the other day and he weighed in at 8lbs. 14oz. (this after leaving the hospital at 6lbs. five weeks ago). So he's a healthy eater, just like his dad.
We have found time for a few photo shoots recently.

What's My Name?
I called my nephew Michael today to wish him a happy 3rd birthday. He answered the phone himself, and his first words to me were, "Hi. It's my birthday."
"I know. Happy birthday," I said, and, not sure he really knew who was calling, "Do you know who this is?"
"Baby Ryan!" he responded without missing a beat.
Well, close enough.
Here are some Ryan shots from this week.

He's always been an active baby, even in the womb. This morning I went in to check on him, only to find him doing some weird leg lift ab crunches in the crib. He's got star athlete written all over him.

He's totally turning into a little man...

Wrapped up after a much needed bath...

More Ryan
It's hard to believe that our son is two weeks old already. They grow up so fast.
Here are a few from our latest photo shoot. He was sitting in my lap and a few of these were taken holding the camera up high and unable to see what I was shooting ("Hail Mary's" in photographer-speak).
Ahhhh, the Soothie!

"Oh no, dad's using the clicky box again. Enough with the clicky box."

Some black and whites that I liked...

Ryan's First Week Home
It turns out that when you are a professional photographer with a newborn, there is a huge demand for new pictures. Here are various shots from Ryan's first week at home. I promise to try to blog more often.
Overall, the first week has been great. He's not overly fussy and he's still sleeping for decent chunks of time at night (Note: this is coming from the non-nursing parent in the house). We've made a few trips out of the house and he hasn't made a peep.
Ryan's favorite activity so far (except between 12 am and 3 am)...

So much for our quiet baby...

Ahhhh, that's more like it...

My mom getting her Ryan fix...

A little rest on Mom's shoulder...

Cousin Michael holds Baby Ryan for the first time...

Mommy's Little King...

The biggest little yawn I've ever seen...

Ryan: Day 2
Here are some more shots from Day Two at the hospital.

Doing his best Macauley Culkin in "Home Alone" impersonation...

"Hey Mom, I've got a present for you..."

Biiiiiiiiiiiiig yawn...

Not at all happy with the way-too-big outfit we picked for him to go home in. Turns out your options are limited when you only weigh 6 lbs...

Meet Ryan Charles Bobb
This morning at 10:43 am, Carolyn and I welcomed our first child into the world. The whole process happened so quickly and Carolyn was amazing. She hardly broke a sweat, and only cursed my name a few times. I was so proud.
Though six days before our official due date, today is the day Carolyn picked in our baby pool. I think this thing was rigged. She had some inside information or something.
The specs:
Name: Ryan Charles Bobb
Gender: Male (duh). We didn't find out ahead of time, but by the end of the pregnancy we were both expecting a girl to pop out.
Weight: 6 lbs, 6 oz., a little peanut.
Length: 19.5 inches.
Hair: Lots.
Meet Ryan...
About 1 minute old

Finally a little leg room

Mom holds her son for the first time

Love that new car smell

Cleaned up and ready to nap

Another great grandson for Grandpa

The aforementioned lots of hair. Also the easiest prediction about this child. Vegas took this one off the board months ago.

Most of Ryan's first day was spent napping or quietly looking around. Very little crying, which we are hoping is a sign of things to come. Of course now that I've just jinxed us, we probably won't sleep for 5 years.

Our handsome boy

The very happy and equally tired parents...
