Cindy & Tad at Woodlawn Manor
It threatened to rain all day for Cindy and Tad's wedding at Woodlawn Manor in Sandy Spring, MD. I've shot there once before and it poured all day then too! I must be bad luck, and it's too bad because Woodlawn Manor is a beautiful place to get married. How cool is this green barn door? Bethany & Randall
Bethany and Randall are such a sweet couple, and they had the amazing wedding that they deserved. After their ceremony at New Covenant Church, we headed over to the Newton White Mansion, which was beautifully decorated for the holiday season. Anyone considering a winter wedding should take a look at the Newton White. (It also holds a special place in my heart since I got married there in 2005!) Guests were treated to an amazing choir, a hot chocolate bar, a delicious assortment of food, and the big band sound of the 17-piece Bayside Big Band. A late November wedding means the sun goes down early, but we actually used that to our advantage for some dramatic and romantic portraits outside by a streetlight. Bethany and Randall, congratulations and thank you for trusting me with your wedding images. View more images on the Love Life Images blog. Labels: Newton White Mansion, weddings
Bonnie & Min
The best weddings are filled with personal touches that represent the personalities of the bride and groom. Bonnie and Min are a fun-loving couple with seemingly legendary senses of humor. They put a lot of effort into their wedding (Bonnie even made her wedding dress!) and it definitely reflected their personalities. Guests were entertained by a karaoke machine, a Bonnie & Min Trivia game and even a dancing chicken. Bonnie made great use of our Snapshot Studio and the Halloween season by bringing costumes and props for guests to enjoy. Instead of traditional favors, Bonnie and Min gave each of their guests a tree sapling to plant, a wonderful and unique gift that reflected their values. The ceremony and reception were held at the beautiful Newton White Mansion in Mitchellville. Most ceremonies end with a kiss, but this one featured a kiss AND their "patented" high five. If you ask me, there should be more high fives at weddings. Congratulations Bonnie and Min! View more images on the Love Life Images blog.Labels: Newton White Mansion, weddings
Diane & Chris
The documentary style of wedding photography is about capturing real emotion. Weddings are typically full of happy moments, but sometimes life throws a curveball, even on a wedding day. Diane and Chris' wedding day started off on a somber note when Diane's father fell and broke his leg, forcing him to miss the ceremony and reception. We had some time after the ceremony, so we all drove over to the hospital so Diane and Chris could spend some time with her father in the Emergency Room. I was so happy they let me tag along, because capturing those real moments is at the heart of what I do. In my mind, the experience also reinforced the importance of wedding photography because you just never know what life has in store and when the photos might be one's only window to a wedding. Despite the unfortunate circumstances, Diane and Chris did have a great wedding full of joy and laughs. Thank you for letting me capture ALL of your emotions on this special day. Sariel & Anthony
Sariel and Anthony started their new life together at the gorgeous 6th & I Synagogue in downtown DC. After the heartfelt ceremony, we dashed off to the Jefferson Memorial for some quick portraits. It was unseasonably warm, but the light was terrific. Well worth it, I think! The reception was full of incredible moments - touching, romantic, and humorous. The joyful Horah dance never disappoints. Kids always liven up a wedding, and theirs had lots of them. It was a great day from start to finish and I was honored to be a part of it. Tashunda & Mark
You might remember Tashunda and Mark from their engagement session earlier this year. Their wedding day finally arrived last weekend and it was everything they hoped it would be. They had an elegant affair at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, but of course they allowed their fun personalities to shine throughout the night. They provided a caricaturist for their guests, and they were serenaded by their respective fraternity and sorority siblings. It was fun incorporating the Walters' amazing art into the images. It's been a blast spending time with these two and observing how much they love each other. Tashunda and Mark, I wish you nothing but the best! View more images on the Love Life Images blog... Billie & Mike
Wow, it's been awhile since I've updated the blog. October was super busy, but get ready for a slew of catch-up posts. Billie and Mike enjoyed a picturesque day for their wedding at St. Mary of the Mills and reception at the Belmont Conference Center. We had a few minutes for some portraits in the gorgeous afternoon light. The portrait time is usually the first chance for the bride and groom to have a few moments alone after the ceremony, which makes for some great picture opportunities. I asked Billie and Mike to walk out in the field and before I knew it Mike swept Billie up in his arms and swung her around, and you could sense how elated they were to be husband and wife. The rest of the evening was filled with fun dancing and lots of love from their families. I was happy to be there to witness it. Congratulations Billie and Mike. Jenny & Rodney
Jenny and Rodney had a wonderful wedding at the Hunt Valley Country Club. The balloons served as a colorful canopy for their ceremony and a fun ending to the night when they were released. After the ceremony, we hopped in some golf carts and found a great place for some portraits. The setting sun added some great flare! Rodney is an accomplished professional skateboarder with the Airwalk team, and I love the shot of his friends hoisting him in the air. Jenny was radiant the whole night and her smile lit up the room. Evelyn & Patrick
It's hard to pick a highlight from Evelyn and Patrick's wedding. Was it the cute kids? The vintage red Corvette getaway car? The fathers getting down on the dance floor together? A messy and sweet cake smashing? Patrick and his best man's rousing rendition of "Ice, Ice, Baby"? It would have to be the obvious love that Patrick and Evelyn have for each other. They were glowing the whole night. Thank you for having me document your special day, and don't forget to call me for some portraits in Hawaii!! Jamie & Craig
Jamie and Craig had such a fun wedding at the gorgeous William Paca House in Annapolis. We started at Jamie's house with her bridesmaids and her two dogs. I'm such a dog lover, and I always end up taking a bunch of pictures of them as they watch their parents get ready. The weather was great and the Paca House and gardens provided great scenery for the ceremony and our portraits. The real fun began once the reception started. This was a raucous, fun-loving crowd, who took turns singing songs to the newlyweds (including some that can't be shared on this family blog!). Jamie and Craig's friend Kenny came all the way down from Penn State to provide the perfect tunes for their party. Everyone had a great time. Congrats Jamie and Craig! Wendy & Nathan
Wendy and Nathan braved the August heat for their wedding at the Decatur House in Washington, DC. I felt for the groomsmen in their tuxes, but they were troopers. Luckily the storm held off until dinner so we were able to get some great shots in Lafayette Square after the ceremony. Elegance & Simplicity adorned the tables with stunning centerpieces and Anthony of MyDeeJay.com kept the dance floor full all night. It was a wonderful celebration. Congratulations Wendy and Nathan! Kate & Chris
Kate and Chris met on the theater stage. Their wedding was a fairy tale and a musical wrapped into one. Their very talented friends sang beautifully during the ceremony, and Kate’s mom serenaded the couple during the reception. Kate even surprised Chris with a touching rendition of the first song Paul McCartney wrote for wife Linda. The evening reception at Normandie Farm was filled with emotional toasts, great dancing and lots of laughter. Thank you for having me document your special day. Lucy & Joe
Lucy and Joe had a wonderful wedding day, surrounded by their very loving friends and families. After the ceremony at Sacred Heart Chapel in Bowie, we headed to the gorgeous Franciscan Monastery in northeast DC. What a stunning place for pictures! The gardens and columned architecture provided a great backdrop for formal pictures and some romantic shots of the bride and groom. The fun continued at the reception in the monastery’s St. Francis Hall. The crowd was treated to a perfectly-choreographed ballroom dancing performance by the “Gourmet Dancers,” a group of friends, including Joe’s parents, who love to dance when they all get together. Joe and Lucy jumped in on the second song and wowed the crowd with their dancing prowess. Everyone had a great time and I was honored to be there to document the day. Congratulations Joe and Lucy! Labels: Franciscan Monastery, Sacred Heart Chapel, weddings
Natalie & Avi
Natalie and Avi picked a beautiful location for their wedding, the Glenview Mansion in Rockville. They both have smiles that can light up a room, and they flashed them often on their wedding day. Being a dog person myself, I love that they included their pooch Roxy in the ceremony. Another nice touch was serving cuisine from different places they have lived. To top it off, they opened (and, yes, drank) a bottle of wine that had been saved from Avi's bar mitzvah! It was another wonderful wedding with a great couple. Thanks for having me be part of your special day. Labels: Glenview Mansion, Rockville, weddings
Cathy & Nick
I had a great time with Cathy, Nick and their wonderful families last weekend. The weather was great for their dinner on Friday and patio wedding Saturday at the Wild Orchid Cafe in Annapolis, MD. It was heartwarming seeing four generations of these two families come together and enjoy each other's company so much. Congratulations Cathy and Nick and I wish you many years of happiness together. Labels: Annapolis, weddings, Wild Orchid Cafe
Elise & Derek
I was truly honored to photograph the wedding of Derek and Elise. It's obvious how perfect these two are for each other, and the day was filled with smiles, laughter and happy tears. They put a lot of thought into planning their special day and it sure paid off! The Pier 5 Hotel in Baltimore's Inner Harbor was the perfect place for their nautical themed wedding. They even took a short boat ride after the ceremony, which made for some wonderful images. Congratulations Derek and Elise! Labels: Baltimore, Pier 5, weddings

Jessie & Bob
I was honored to photograph Jessie and Bob's beautiful wedding last Saturday at 2941 restaurant in Falls Church, VA. This one was a photographer's dream - a cool venue with funky art and lots of light, loving families and friends, emotional toasts, cute kids, great dancing, plenty of laughter, and unique touches (cotton candy for every table!)... not to mention a wonderful couple. Steve from Good Note DJs kept the dance floor full with a great mix of music. Honestly, I was a little sad when the reception ended. I could have kept shooting all day. Apologies for posting so many images, but it was too hard to choose! Congrats Jessie and Bob on your wonderful wedding and your new adventure together. Labels: 2941, weddings

Laura & Eben
I recently photographed the beautiful, intimate wedding of Laura and Eben at ThorpeWood, in the Catoctin Mountains. The rustic lodge was a perfect setting for a late-Fall wedding (although the weather was a Spring-like 70 degrees!). Eben's father performed the ceremony, and the evening was capped off with homemade cakes baked by family. It was a wonderful evening. Congratulations Laura & Eben! Labels: Thorpewood, weddings
Rob & Elaine
I was privileged to shoot a friend's wedding for the second straight weekend, this time one of my best college friends, Rob, and his beautiful bride Elaine. The weather was great on Cape Cod and the setting was fabulous - the Wychmere Harbor Beach Club. The ceremony was capped off by a hilarious and touching song, written and performed by Elaine's brother Michael. I couldn't shoot the ceremony since I was in the wedding. Groomsman duties aside, I managed to catch a few shots of the couple. Labels: weddings
