First Lady Michelle Obama Reads Christmas Story to Children at CNMC

After our visit with some patients, First Lady Michelle Obama, along with Bo and Santa, greeted a group of children in the atrium of Children’s National Medical Center. Mrs. Obama read “Twas the Night Before Christmas” and even solicited Christmas gift suggestions for the President. A few of the ideas included a watch, a “president’s bell” for the roof of the White House, a new suit, and even a new hot tub (to which the First Lady responded, “You think he has an old hot tub?”). Before she departed, Mrs. Obama thrilled the children by walking the rope line with Bo.

Yesterday, I had the very special privilege of photographing First Lady Michelle Obama’s visit to Children’s National Medical Center. The First Lady visited with several patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit before heading down to the atrium to read a Christmas story to a throng of excited children.

This image of Mrs. Obama holding a patient in the PICU is my favorite from the day.

Celebrating Grandparents :: DC Event Photographer

I recently photographed a wonderful event for Children’s Hospital to pay tribute to all of the wonderful grandmothers who play an instrumental role in raising their grandchildren. One of the featured guests was Vontae Davis of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins. Vontae and his siblings were raised primarily by their grandmother in Washington, DC.

The day started at Children’s Hospital, where Vontae and fellow NFL player Geoffrey Pope made some cards with the kids.

Then we headed to The Town Hall Education, Arts & Recreation Campus (THEARC) in Anacostia for a formal program honoring grandmothers and the work of the Grandparents Support Group.Vontae’s grandmother Adeline was the featured speaker.

Share Our Strength Fundraiser at Charlie Palmer Steak :: DC Event Photographer

I recently had the opportunity to provide event photography in support of an important non-profit organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger. Share Our Strength partners with some of the top chefs in the country for an evening of great food and a fun auction to raise money to help end childhood hunger in America. The Washington, DC dinner was held at Charlie Palmer Steak. It was a wonderful evening.

John Flynn Retirement Dinner :: DC Event Photography

I recently photographed the retirement dinner for John Flynn, President of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers. Held at the Capital Hilton, the evening was a celebration of Mr. Flynn’s nearly 60 years in the labor movement.
