Among other benefits, engagement sessions are a wonderful way to capture a meaningful time in a couple’s life together. This was especially true for Maggie and Joe, who had just closed on a new house in DC a few days before our session. I loved the idea of shooting in their new house with boxes all over the floor. We started off the session at their favorite local pizza place before heading back to the house. So much fun!

Lauren and Max were married in January of 2009 and we’ve been trying to schedule their portrait session since then! Schedules and life kept getting in the way, but we finally found some time a few weeks ago. In hindsight, I’m actually glad it took so long because it was wonderful seeing them in love and laughing with each other as much today as they were almost two years ago on their wedding day.

I met Margot and Phillip and their sweet dog Peet at the Washington Humane Society’s Walk for the Animals (where I was promoting my pet photography business FidoJournalism). When they found out I also shoot weddings, it was a match made in heaven. We had fun traipsing around the Capitol and the steps of the Supreme Court, a perfect spot for these two lawyers.
