Thao & Dustin :: A Maryland Wedding

Annapolis Wedding Photos :: Stephen Bobb :: Love Life Images

Thao and Dustin had not one, but two beautiful ceremonies on their wedding day. We started at Thao’s parents’ house for a traditional Vietnamese ceremony before heading to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church for a Western ceremony. It’s always wonderful to see how different cultures celebrate the institution of marriage. After some portraits and bridal party photos in Annapolis, we finished at Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville, MD. Their church hall is a wonderful place for a wedding reception. It is a large room and has an adjacent patio for cocktail hour.

Congrats Thao and Dustin!

Margot and Phillip :: A Winter Wedding at Agudas Achim Congregation

I knew after their engagement session with their dog, Peet, that Margot and Phillip’s wedding was going to be wonderful and full of laughter. And it was, of course! Since theirs was a Jewish wedding on a Saturday, we started after sundown. Being a winter wedding as well (brrrr!) meant we had to find some creative places for indoor portraits. Fortunately the sanctuary at Agudas Achim Congregation (and a dash of video light) provided us with the dramatic light I like for portraits. Here are some of my favorites from a beautiful wedding. Congrats Margot and Phillip (and Peet)!

First Lady Michelle Obama Reads Christmas Story to Children at CNMC

After our visit with some patients, First Lady Michelle Obama, along with Bo and Santa, greeted a group of children in the atrium of Children’s National Medical Center.  Mrs. Obama read “Twas the Night Before Christmas” and even solicited Christmas gift suggestions for the President.  A few of the ideas included a watch, a “president’s bell” for the roof of the White House, a new suit, and even a new hot tub (to which the First Lady responded, “You think he has an old hot tub?”). Before she departed, Mrs. Obama thrilled the children by walking the rope line with Bo.

First Lady Michelle Obama visits CNMC

First Lady Michelle Obama holds a patient in the Children's National Medical Center Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Copyright 2010 Stephen Bobb Photography.

Yesterday, I had the very special privilege of photographing First Lady Michelle Obama’s visit to Children’s National Medical Center. The First Lady visited with several patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit before heading down to the atrium to read a Christmas story to a throng of excited children.

This image of Mrs. Obama holding a patient in the PICU is my favorite from the day.
